(Missouri, USA, 1965. Lived in Argentina until she was 10. Works and lives in Chicago.) "Through my work I explore the dichotomy of my bi-culture. I'm attracted to landscapes of taverns and latin hair dresser parlours because sterile malls and modern offices remind me of my own mortality. I do not believe in the hierarchy of the artistic process. I see each exhibition as an amusing mis en scene which is simultaneously beautiful , more beautiful than real. Alexa Horochowski, recipient of the 2001 Jerome Foundation, Minneapolis, Minnesota, is currently working on an exhibition scheduled for this year at the Monique Meloche Gallery in Chicago.
